Brief one Concept development

Midnight Musings...Some of my best ideas seem to come to me just before I fall asleep so I always have a piece of paper nearby to scribble them down so I dont forget them in the am.  The initial idea forming was a cultural retail space called 'Beats' which would not only sell clothes linked to subculture but also sell music and books and other media.  It would be a social space where music and stories can be shared.  Sound waves and'dance to the beat of a different drum came to mind.  Write your on tune or story.

I then brainstormed Storytelling, beats, Subculture with specific styles, youth brands and What teens like (I use my sons wardrobe and also chatting with him about what he perceives as cool and what he likes)

This lead to 'Threads' and also further research into five specific styles and subcultures and 5 specific heritage brands.  I felt I needed to document the research along a time line as I thought this my also present design ideas.

The Concept

The retail space will be called Threads.  The problem I want to solve is to educate young people ged 13 to 18 that some Brands have real substance and a connection with subcultures and cultures generally but some dont.

I have been thinking of creating a timeline/thread of each brand across subcultures however when I started to break this down it will be cant complex and mot visually pleasing.  I think a better approach will be to create a 'range of threads'.  These will be across subcultures so different brands will sit within each range.  From my research the Mod and Casuals culture labels seem popular with Young people.  Also 'American' skater labels such as Vans and DC.
