Brief 1 Design Development logo

I have been exploring the idea of threads, storylines and links.  These are the initial ideas I have come up with:

This made me think of the 1968 Olympics logo and posters design by Lance Wyman.  I cant believe I have never been on his website before his work is so ahead of its time.  he was doing iconography way before vectors were invented.  definitely going in my Bookmark folder 'Inspiration'

The starting point was the mandatory five-ring logo that identifies the modern Olympic Games. It was the realisation that the geometry of the five rings could be expanded to generate the number ’68′, the year of the games and with the addition of the word ‘Mexico’ the logotype was created. Mexico 68 clearly identifies the country, the year and the event. The distinct geometric forms suggest early Mexican cultures and Mexican folk-art, and the final design references 1960′s Op Art.

This also made me think of a brief that 10 Associates did for Chapter 8.  It quite a while ago now but still looks fresh.  I like how they have used a range of colours across the brand.
